Volunteer Montgomery

Volunteer opportunities include assisting area non-profit organizations, visiting nursing homes, bake sales and specialized events throughout the year.

Volunteer time commitment is up to each individual and their availability. Volunteers must be willing to serve without compensation. Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a parent/guardian accompany them on all Volunteer Montgomery activities. Parent/guardian must also complete a Volunteer Enrollment Application.

*We do not facilitate court-ordered community service at this time.

Reporting Hours

It has been brought to our attention lately that many of our volunteers don’t report all of your hours because you don’t want to boast or brag about the service you provide. Volunteer Montgomery thrives and EXISTS because of your service hours to our community! Please remember that we are generously funded by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors because of all of the reports we send about projects and hours that our volunteers provide each year. If you have any questions about how to report your hours each month, please contact a member of our team at volunteermontgomery@montgomerycountyva.gov!

You can submit volunteer hours by mail, email or by visiting https://forms.montva.com/Forms/volunteer-hours. If you use this link, your volunteer time will be emailed to staff.

May Evening Event

Join us at the Christiansburg community garden on May 12. We will be working on setting up our garden for the upcoming year. Please meet at the Volunteer Montgomery office at 5 pm to talk over to the garden. *All supplies will be provided.

Monthly Supply Drive

Our May Supply Drive will help us gather supplies for our community garden. Please check out the "Supply Drive" section of the website to learn more about items requested.

Office Closures

May 25, 2026: Our office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

June 19, 2026: Our office will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

July 3, 2026: Our office will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.

September 7, 2026: Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Upcoming Events

11:00 AM - 2:00 PM May 16, 2026 | May Day of Hope Event
We will be tabling at Huckleberry Park during the May Day of Hope. The event runs from 11 am- 2 pm.

Information from the New River Valley Community Service's Facebook:

NRVCS, in partnership with Montgomery County, VA and the NRV Recovery Ecosystem, will host the “Day of Hope” Community Celebration & 5K, scheduled for Saturday, May 16 at Christiansburg’s Huckleberry Park (300 Huckleberry Park Drive, Christiansburg, VA).

This event is a project of the NRV Recovery Court – a regional program that began in 2014 and is dedicated to supporting individuals who have encountered legal issues as a result of their diagnosed substance use disorder.

Volunteer Montgomery 's volunteers will be meeting at English Meadows for their Tea Party. Contact the office for more details. This event will be held at 2 pm.
1:30 PM - 4:00 PM May 19, 2026 | Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Roanoke – Birthday Party

Volunteer Montgomery will provide transportation for volunteers participating in visits and activities. Please arrive no later than 1:30 pm, the time we leave, if you'd like to carpool with us! Event starts at 2:30 pm. Contact the office for more details.
