How to Register

Register online, by phone at (540) 382-6975, or by visiting our office in the Montgomery County Government Center, located at 755 Roanoke Street, Suite 1E, in Christiansburg.

Session 1 - Registration opens May 15 at 8:30 am.

Session 2 - Registration opens June 5 at 8:30 am.

Session 3 - Registration opens June 26 at 8:30 am.

Session 4 - Registration opens July 10 at 8:30 am.


Space is limited and will fill up very quickly. We recommend logging into or creating your account before registration opens to make sure you can successfully register your child on registration day. Let us know if you need help.

You may also call our office or visit in person to register, but please note that due to call volume, sessions may fill up before you reach a staff member who can assist you.

Session 1 - June 3, 5, 10, 12

Session 2 - June 17, 19, 24, 26

Session 3 - July 8, 10, 15, 17

Session 4 - July 22, 24, 29, 31

 

 

Time & Location

All swimming lessons are held at the Frog Pond Swimming Pool, located at 390 Cinnabar Road in Christiansburg. Lessons meet from 6:30 - 7:00 pm.

 

Cost

The cost is $45 per session, which includes all four lessons in that session.

Class Descriptions

Parent & Child Aquatics Level 1 & 2 (Ages 6 months - 3 years)

This program builds swim readiness and confidence in the water with an emphasis on having fun. Parents and children participate in guided activities, including bubble-blowing and floating on the front and back. Parents are taught the essentials so they can help teach their child. Parents are required to participate in class.

 

Preschool Aquatics (Ages 3 - 4 years)

This program is designed for children who are comfortable in the water and able to participate independently in class without parents. Children are introduced to basic aquatic skills, including bubble blowing, floating, and aquatic locomotion skills with an emphasis on having fun in the water.

 

Learn to Swim Level 1 (Ages 4+)

This program builds swim readiness and confidence in the water with an emphasis on having fun. Swimmers are introduced to beginner forms of freestyle and backstroke. 

 

Learn to Swim Level 2 (Ages 5+)

This program is designed to give participants success with fundamental skills in the water with an emphasis on having fun. This level will teach gliding and floating without support, refine freestyle and backstroke skills including breathing, arm pull, and proper kick. Participants must be comfortable in group settings.

 

Learn to Swim Level 3 (Ages 5+)

This program continues to refine swimming skills involved in freestyle and backstroke. This level introduces treading water, survival swimming, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and diving. Participants must be comfortable in group settings and have completed Level 1 and 2.

About

Montgomery County Parks and Recreation's swimming lessons are American Red Cross Certified. Lessons are designed to help the participant grow as a swimmer, and learn competence in the water. Swimming is a great way to stay in shape and encourages sportsmanship and strong character. Swimming lessons are offered when the Frog Pond Pool is open during the summer months.
