The 2023 Cal Ripken Baseball Clinic is scheduled for Thursday, May 25 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at Motor Mile Park. Every registered child will receive a FREE Pulaski River Turtle Flex Ticket 4-pack!
Register now to reserve your spot:
- Go to chevrolet.com/youthsports
- Click on the gold "Clinic Registration" box
- Select "Roanoke" from the drop-down menu and click "Go!"
- Enter the registration password "playball" (without quotations) for free entry into the clinic, then click "Submit"
- Complete the registration form and download the waiver. In addition to registering before the event, participants are required to bring a signed waiver form to the registration table on the day of the clinic.
- Check your email (including your spam) for your registration confirmation
We recommend that you bring a cooler with refreshments. A post-clinic snack will be provided for all participants.
Registration for football, cheerleading, and fall baseball and softball begins July 1 at 8:30 a.m. Participants cannot play both football or cheer and fall baseball or softball. For season. equipment, and league information, see the individual sport pages.
We need football referees, basketball referees, and baseball/softball umpires! We pay $50 per football game, $25 per coach pitch game, $50 per kid pitch game, and $40 per basketball game. Call (540) 382-6975 or email mcpr@montgomerycountyva.gov if interested.
How to Register
Your child must play with the recreation department where they attend school.
We do not have sample uniform sizes. Please pick the best size based on what your child currently wears. We offer the following sizes:
- Youth: Small (6-8), Medium (10-12), Large (14-16)
- Adult: Small, Medium, Large, XL, 2XL
Your coach will contact you several weeks after the registration deadline. If you register online, please make sure your email address, phone number, and mailing address are up-to-date.

About Athletics
We offer football, cheerleading, fall ball,
basketball, tee ball, coach pitch,
baseball, and softball for elementary age children and up. If you are interested in soccer, lacrosse, aquatics,
or ice hockey, visit the Friends of Montgomery County Parks & Recreation.
Residency
We provide youth athletics to the residents of Montgomery County, including the Auburn, Eastern Montgomery, and Price’s Fork* school districts.
Blacksburg residents should visit Blacksburg Parks and Recreation or call (540) 443-1100.
Christiansburg residents should visit Christiansburg Parks and Recreation or call (540) 382-2349.
*We offer youth basketball in the winter for Price's Fork residents. For baseball, softball, teeball, football, and cheerleading, Price's Fork residents must play with Blacksburg Parks and Recreation.

Inclement Weather Policy
If Montgomery County Public Schools are closed, athletic programs are cancelled.
Our athletics cancellation line is (540) 382-6975, Option 2 and will be updated by 4:00 p.m. if there are any cancellations. Cancellations will also be posted to the athletics Facebook page.
Let the Kids Play Scholarship Fund
This fund was created to ensure that all kids have the opportunity to play sports. The fund helps make registration costs more affordable for children in Montgomery County.
With this scholarship, we offer reduced cost athletic fees for any child who qualifies for medical assistance through the state of Virginia, including VA Premier and Medicaid. Proof of assistance, such as cards, letters, or documentation from Social Services must be provided in order to receive this discount.
