Q: How can I help prevent the spread of COVID-19 when voting?
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) provides guidance on its website, including actions to avoid when voting in-person. Download a PDF file of Voting Guidance.
Q: Where and when can I vote early and in-person?
There are two locations: Montgomery Co. Government Center (755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg) and Wonder Universe (rear entrance of Uptown Christiansburg, formerly NRV Mall).
Early voting begins Sept. 18, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EXCEPT Oct. 12. Both sites will also be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on SATURDAY Oct. 24 and 31, 2020.
Q: If I want to vote early, will there be someone to help me from my vehicle?
Yes, both early voting locations have curbside voting. A “doorbell” is provided at both locations. Ring the doorbell and someone will come out to assist you.
Q: May I have someone else bring my ballot to a drop box?
Yes, you may have a trusted individual bring your ballot to a drop box.
Q: What are my options if I requested an absentee ballot but would prefer to vote in person?
Hold on to your absentee ballot packet and bring it with you when you vote in person. If you forget or lose the packet, you will be permitted to vote provisionally.
Q: I have heard that using blue ink on a ballot will cause it to be rejected. Is that true?
This is false. The ballots state that you may use either blue or black ink. Either ink is acceptable. Black is preferred. If there is any issue with a ballot being read by the machine, it is hand counted.
