8/14/2018 - County's Public Information Office Receives State, National Recognition

Montgomery County's Public Information Office recently received a total of five national and state awards from both the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) and the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo).

For the Blue Pencil and Gold Screen awards given annually by NAGC, Public information received three awards of excellence to include:

  • The Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center Branding in the Branding/Rebranding Campaign Category;
  • #AdoptASharkWeek Social Media Campaign that coincided with Shark Week in the Promotional Campaigns (less than $100,000) Category; and
  • Crazy for Cats video in the Public Service Announcement Category.

In addition, NAGC also awarded second place in the Social Media Category for the Montgomery County, Virginia, Animal Care and Adoption Center Social Media.

Regionally, VACo, recognized the county's Public Information Office for three programs associated with the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center to include Animal Care and Adoption Center Social Media; Caturday, a program in conjunction with the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library; and the Animal Care and Adoption Center Live Release Rate Goal.

Montgomery County's award submission was one of 25 winning VACo entries out of 106 total submissions. A VACo representative will formally present the award to the Public Information Office at the October 9, 2018, Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting.
