Volunteer Montgomery

Volunteer opportunities include assisting area non-profit organizations, visiting nursing homes, bake sales and specialized events throughout the year.

Volunteer time commitment is up to each individual and their availability. Volunteers must be willing to serve without compensation. Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a parent/guardian accompany them on all Volunteer Montgomery activities. Parent/guardian must also complete a Volunteer Enrollment Application.

*We do not facilitate court-ordered community service at this time.

Reporting Hours

It has been brought to our attention lately that many of our volunteers don’t report all of your hours because you don’t want to boast or brag about the service you provide. Volunteer Montgomery thrives and EXISTS because of your service hours to our community! Please remember that we are generously funded by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors because of all of the reports we send about projects and hours that our volunteers provide each year. If you have any questions about how to report your hours each month, please contact a member of our team at volunteermontgomery@montgomerycountyva.gov!

You can submit volunteer hours by mail, email or by visiting https://forms.montva.com/Forms/volunteer-hours. If you use this link, your volunteer time will be emailed to staff.

Office Closures

June 19, 2026: Our office will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

July 3, 2026: Our office will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.

September 7, 2026: Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

October 12, 2026: Our office will be closed on Monday, October 12, in observance of Memorial Day.

Give Local NRV is here! The 24-hour event will be on June 24-25 from noon-noon with early donations start on June 1st. Donations can be made via the link below but also can be made in-person via cash or check. Any money raised will go in-house projects such as Supplies for Seniors, Holiday Tote Bags, and more! Consider donating to make a difference.

We will be partnering with the Christiansburg/Montgomery T.R.I.A.D SALT council for their Ice Cream Social. This event is on June 16 at 1:30 PM held at the Christiansburg Recreation Center. Stop by and say hi!

Join us for a night of fun at Iron Tree Brewing Company in Christiansburg for BINGO Night!

These BINGO Nights are a fundraiser for the Volunteer Montgomery programs, so we can continue to be able to give back and support our community! Tickets are $10 each and gets you one BINGO card. Additional BINGO cards can be purchased for $5.

In addition, we have gift card prizes each round and grand prizes! Tasty drinks are available from Iron Tree Brewery and delicious food from Cabo Fish Taco!

Tickets can be purchased via Betterworld Link (Bingo Ticket Purchase) or at the Volunteer Montgomery office. Do not purchase any resale tickets from anyone other than Volunteer Montgomery!! Tickets are also non-refundable.

This event will be held from 9 am to 12 pm at the Volunteer Montgomery office. **We are no longer collecting manufacturer’s coupons. Due to the progression of electronic coupons, we are unable to collect enough paper coupons to mail.
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Jun 23, 2026 | Joey Thacker Presentation on Elderly Exploitation

Joey Thacker works with the New River Valley Community Services as the Co-Response Coordinator/Law Enforcement. He will be speaking at Volunteer Montgomery regarding elderly exploitation, the types of scams, and how to respond if you have been exploited. He will be joining us at the Volunteer Montgomery office on June 23 from 10 am- 12 pm. This presentation will be held in the activity room. Please RSVP to the office if you would like to attend.
