Mission:
The Montgomery County Office on Youth is a planning arm of local county government charged with examining youth delinquency issues and fostering positive youth development through coordination with various community agencies. The Office on Youth administers, coordinates and monitors the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCA) programs and services for at-risk youth and families. Programs include juvenile community service, home confinement, home electronic monitoring, and basic skills development for court-involved youth, operated through Alternative Community Programs.
The Office on Youth is responsible for conducting an
annual needs assessment to identify youth related services needed in the
County, maintaining an inventory of youth programs, and acting as a
referral source for existing youth services and/or activities. In
addition, the director attends and serves as a County liaison for various
community boards and committees. The Office on Youth Advisory Board,
which is composed of citizens appointed by the Montgomery County Board of
Supervisors, works closely with staff to carry out the mission of the
office.
The Office on Youth administers, coordinates, and monitors the Virginia

for court-involved youth. Also, the director participates in the
coordination of service delivery for children and families receiving
services through the Comprehensive Services Act (CSA) by sitting on the
Family Assessment and Planning Team and Community Policy and Management
Team.
