Prior to attaining four months of age, the owner or custodian
of all dogs and domesticated cats shall have them vaccinated for rabies by a
currently licensed veterinarian, who shall provide the owner with a
certification of vaccination. The vaccine shall be licensed by the United States
Department of Agriculture for use in that species. This certification of
vaccination must be signed by the veterinarian and include the veterinarian’s
license number. A copy of this certification of vaccination shall be presented
when purchasing a dog tag.

Dog tags go on sale November 1st at the Treasurer's Office or the Blacksburg Municipal Building. Dog tags are due by January 31st of each year.

The certification of vaccination must be marked spayed or neutered
in order to purchase an unsexed tag. If you are
purchasing a kennel tag you must present the certifications of vaccination for
all dogs kept in the kennel.
