Sheriff J. T. 'Tommy' Whitt has served Montgomery
County since 1984 and has more than 30-years in law enforcement in the
New River Valley. His prior military and law enforcement experience provides
him with a great background to be a successful sheriff. Sheriff
Whitt is a 1972 graduate of Radford High School and proudly served as a United
States Marine, attaining the rank of E-5 Sergeant in four years of active duty
prior to beginning his law enforcement career.
