Court in Blacksburg, Juvenile and Domestic Relations in Christiansburg, and the
Circuit Court of Montgomery County, which is located in the Christiansburg Courthouse.
There can be as many as four courts in session at the same time with up to eight or

The bailiffs are responsible for the security and safety of all
court personnel, judges, witnesses, inmates, victims, and spectators during a
criminal or civil trial. The Civil Office is also responsible for conducting
Sheriff's Sales generated by court actions, and service of civil documents that
are issued by the court. These civil papers, include, civil, criminal, witness subpoenas,
divorce actions, child support, custody petitions, evictions, warrants in debt,
and juvenile petitions, just to name a few.
Warrant Division
The Criminal Warrant Office is responsible for the service of all criminal warrants,
capias issued by the courts, and any other documents of arrest. The warrant deputies also serve the majority of the juvenile
arrest orders and mental health detention orders in Montgomery County. These require
transporting individuals to facilities anywhere in Virginia. Fugitive apprehension
is also a major responsibility. Fugitives that are located elsewhere in the United States
and then must be extradited back to our jurisdiction. This requires the deputies be
certified by the F.A.A. to fly with weapons and prisoners onboard commercial aircrafts.
A deputy assigned to these special duties may be asked at any time to
assume these duties along with their own regular assignments.
