Following the completion of the U.S. Census, jurisdictions at the state and
local level must redraw the voting district lines to reflect population changes
over the previous 10 years.
Received approval from U.S. Department of Justice for redistricting plan.

Committee held 3rd and 4th meetings and made recommendations to Supervisors.
Supervisors scheduled public hearing for May 7th.
April, 2001
Board of Supervisors held public hearing and adopted recommendations of Redistricting
Committee. Approved redistricting plan and supporting documentation submitted
to Department of Justice.
March, 2001
Committee held 2 meetings to organize and review Census counts for the county.
Awaiting General Assembly action on redistricting the House and Senate Districts.
February, 2001
Board of Supervisors appointed members to Redistricting Committee. Supervisors
also discussed polocies to guide the work of the Redistricting Committee.
January, 2001
Supervisors discussed use of Redistricting Committee to research and propose
alternative, as was done in 1991. Continuing to work with County Attorney and
Voting Registrar.
