March, 2002 Atlantic Technologies Consultants (ATC) made two presentations on completed study on March 25th. Informal presentation made to Planning Commission representtives from Montgomery County, Pulaski County, Blacksburg, and Christiansburg. Formal presentation made to Board of Supervisors.
February, 2002 Presentation to Supervisors scheduled for March 25th. Other jurisdictions also invited.
January, 2002 Presentation to Supervisors rescheduled to March.
August- Dec., 2001 Atlantic Technology Consultants (ATC) is completing the inventory of existing structures as part of the Wireless Communications Structure Assessment. Scheduled presentation to Board of Supervisors for Feb. 11, 2002.
June, 2001 Awarded contract to Atlantic Technology Consultants to assess wireless telecommunications facilities in Montgomery County.
May, 2001 Evaluating RFP's received to hire consultant to assess wireless telecommunication facilities in the County. Planning Commission and Supervisors held lpublic Hearings on Comp Plan amendments., Planning Commission recommended approval.
April, 2001

American Tower SUP Request--Board of Supervisors denied request.

Interviewed 2 consultant teams who responded to RFP. Supervisors approved awarding contract to Atlantic Technology Consultants for $32,100.00.

March, 2001

American Tower SUP Request--Sun Com informed county that they can locate on an existing AEP power transmission pole. Planning Commission reviewed American Tower request and recommended denial.

Put out RFP to hire consultant to assess wireless telecommunications facilities in the County. Planning Commission public hearing on Comp Plan amendment scheduled for April 11th.

Feb. 2001

American Tower SUP Request-- Applicant requested delay in consideration of request withle evaluating the use of existing AEP power transmission towers.

Reviewed draft comprehensive plan amendment with the Planning Commission. Preparing RFP to hire consultant to assess wireless telecommunications facilities in the County.

Jan. 2001

American Tower SUP Request--Consultant presented information on use of existing AIP power transmission towers to Planning Commission on January 17th. Planning Commission asked applicant to provide additional information.

Awaiting comments on draft telecommunication towers policies submitted to respective staffs for review and comment.

Dec. 2000

American Tower SUP Request--Board approved use of consultant to evaluate use of existing AEP power transmission towers instead of building a new 225' telecommunications tower.

Draft policies (for Board of Supervisors) concerning telecommunications towers submitted to respective staffs for review and comment.

Nov. 2000

American Tower SUP Request--Working with consultant, Patrick McHugh of Trade Winds Communications to evaluate use of existing AEP power transmission towers instead of building a new 225' telecommunications tower.

Preparing draft policies for amendment to each jurisdiction's Comprehensive Plan.

Oct. 2000 Held third meeting with staff representatives from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Radford to discuss tower siting issues.
Sept. 2000 Held second meeting with staff representatives from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Radford to discuss tower siting issues.
August, 2000 Held first meeting with staff representatives from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Radford to discuss tower siting issues.
July, 2000 Initiating study of tower siting issues with Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Radford.
May, 2000 Professors Dennis Sweeney and Bill Carstensen of Virginia Tech held work session with Board of Supervisors on May 9th concerning telecommunications towers.
April, 2000 Employed technical consultants from Virginia Tech. Work session for Board of Supervisors scheduled for May 9th.
March, 2000 Prepared and presented information on telecommunications towers to Planning Commission on March 15th. Planning Commission held special work session to discuss 4 pending SUP requests for telecommunications towers on March 29th. Working to employ technical consultant to assist county with requests.
February, 2000 Planning Commission recommended Supervisors table three (3) requests for towers to allow the Planning Commission time to look at telecommunications towers from a countywide perspective and develop specific policies. Supervisors directed staff to emply technical consultant to assist the county in evaluating tower requests.
