Rural Additions

The rural additions program allows the County and county residents to petition the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDoT) to make a private road part of the public secondary state road system. As the timeline indicates, the time frame for the process can take well over a year and involves securing the necessary easements and moving utilility lines/poles.

February, 2002 Natures Waye Road taken into the state secondary system by VDOT.
January, 2002 Natures Waye Road, Supervisors passed resolution on January 11, 2002 requesting VDOT take this road into the state secondary road system.
Dec. 2001 Natures Waye Road, working with VDoT on issue of "speculative interest"
Nov. 2001 No new rural addition requests from this year's public hearing.
Sept.-Nov. 2001 Natures Waye Road, working with VDoT and residents to adquire final drainage easements.
June - Aug., 2001 Green Hill Lane taken over by VDoT. Working with VDoT and residents to determine if any additional easements or rights-of-way are necessary for Natures Waye Road.
May, 2001 Utility pole relocations underway for Green Hill Lane. Working with VDoT to determine if any additional easements or rights-of-way are necessary.
April, 2001 Utility Pole relocations underway for Green Hill Lane. Beginning work on Natures Waye.
March, 2001 Awaiting utility pole (AEP, Verizon relocations to be completed for Green Hill Lane.
Feb. 2001 Board of Supervisors approved $1,000.00 funding for Green Hill Lane utility pole (AEP, Verizon) relocation.

Dec., 2000- January, 2001

Awaiting Board action on possible funding for Green Hill Lane utility pole (AEP, Verizon) relocations.

July-Nov., 2000

Working on utility pole (AEP, C&P [Verizon] relocations for Green Hill Lane.

June, 2000

Completed right-of-way acquisition for Green Hill Lane. Started work on utility pole relocations.

May, 2000

Working on right-of-way issues for Green Hill Road (Lane).

April, 2000

Work completed on former SR 701 (to Merrimac consolidated collection site). Working on right of way issues for various roads.

Jan.- March, 2000

Working on right-of-way issues for various projects.
