News & Notes: Planning Commission Report

The State Code of Virginia mandates a number of responsibilities for the Planning Commission, including providing an annual report which details the "operations of the commission and the status of planning within its jurisdiction" (§15.2-2221[5]); and "prepare, publish, and distribute reports, ordinances and other materials relating to its activities" (§15.2-2221[6]). News and Notes is, effectively, the Planning Commission's annual report and is published three to four times per year, depending on need and subject matter. The year-end statistics and summary are published in the Fall/Winter issue of News and Notes. In addition to the Planning Commission Report, News and Notes provides information on the range of planning issues facing Montgomery County and updates on the comprehensive planning process.
