Virginia Wildlife Mapping:
An Environmental Endowment Project

Started in 1997, the Virginia Wildlife Mapping Project is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Locally, it is a project between the Virginia Tech Institute for Connecting Science to the Classroom and the third, fourth, and fifth grade classes at Christiansburg Elementary School.

The project includes data from both the Montgomery County Recreation Center and the Coal Mining Heritage Park/ Huckleberry Trail (the section of the trail between Merrimac Road and Christiansburg).

For more information on the project, please contact Cathy Ney with the Montgomery County Public Schools.
