Geotechnical Study Spring, 2001

Introduction

Earth Model of Resistivity Data from Line 1

(Thumbnail)

Line 1 covers an area on the north/west side of the trail, 100 feet from the western most park boundary. The site is located between the hotel and the commissary. According to Lee Linkous, one of the surviving Merrimac Miners, his father dug coal in this particular location, althought the results of the resistivity study suggested otherwise (see the May 1, 2001 Report). As you will notice, the dark purple areas, less than 100 ohms to nearly 300 ohms represents areas filled, primarily with water.
