The Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to providing community recreation
for children, youth and adults. The services of the department contribute immensely to
the building of sound physical and mental health, citizenship and character, and
to reducing crime and delinquency within the county. The department promotes educational
and emotional growth as well as the social, cultural and moral well-being of families
and communities.
Organized recreation plays a significant role in making Montgomery County
a more desirable place to live and work. In these times of changing lifestyles, it is
imperative that the Parks & Recreation Department offer its citizenry the opportunity

Get ready to ‘Rock the Pond’ on Friday, July 18, with the Blacksburg Steel Drum Band. The concert will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frog Pond. There is a $7 entry fee to be paid - $5 if purchased in advance! - at the gate and food and refreshments will be available. Bring the family and enjoy good music and fun in a safe environment.
