Montgomery Regional Hospital
Montgomery Regional Hospital, located on Route 460 between Christiansburg and Blacksburg,
is a 146-bed facility with more than 80 physicians representing a wide range of specialties.
As an affiliate of Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation, Montgomery Regional Hospital shares
the research, skills and accomplishments of facilities throughout the United States.
Built in 1971, Montgomery Regional Hospital takes pride in its modern, well-kept facilities
and state-of-the-art equipment which include: a 24-hour emergency service department; an
intensive care/coronary care unit; a family-centered maternity care unit with birthing rooms
as well as traditional delivery rooms; a pediatrics wing with its own intensive care unit; a
surgery department equipped with the latest technology; a Sleep Disorders Center; diagnostic
services with CT scans, nuclear scans, ultrasound and mammography screening; and The Fitness
Connection, a comprehensive fitness and wellness center for devising specialized exercise and
rehabilitative programs.
Carilion New River Valley Medical Center
Montgomery County residents are also served by Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, an
affiliate of Carilion Health System. Carilion New River Valley Medical Center has 95 beds,
a staff of 106 physicians representing over 20 specialties, and offers complete hospital
services including: 24-hour emergency care facilities (Level III Trauma Center); family-centered
maternity care; 24-hour surgical services; a comprehensive Heart Center; complete radiology services
including an MRI mobile unit and CT scanner; and physical therapy/rehabilitation services.
St. Alban's Psychiatric Hospital
St. Alban's Psychiatric Hospital is a short-term, comprehensive mental health facility.
St. Alban's, an affiliate of Carilion Health System, has 162 beds and offers programs for
alcohol and substance abuse, pain management, eating disorders, panic and phobias and special
programs for adolescents and senior citizens.
New River Valley Hospice, Inc.
The New River Valley Hospice, Inc., is a non-profit corporation staffed with volunteer
teams of health professionals and trained individuals who provide home and inpatient care
for the terminally ill and help families cope with stress and trauma associated with
terminal illnesses.
Family Medicine
Montgomery County benefits from a Public Health Department, six private clinics,
approximately 45 dentists, five nursing homes and three home health care agencies.
Carilion Health System maintains a Family Medicine Clinic that houses family practice
physicians and a variety of clinical services, obstetrics /gynecological care, diagnostic
testing such as x-ray, mammography and lab services, physical therapy and behavioral health.
