The Commonwealth's Attorney serves as the
Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the County, prosecutes all felonies and
certain misdemeanors and traffic offenses, and advises citizens, law
enforcement agencies, and magistrates regarding interpretation of criminal
law.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office consists of the Commonwealth’s Attorney,
his Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys and support staff.
Bradley W. Finch is your Commonwealth’s Attorney. He has
served in the Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office since 2001.
Brad is a life-long resident of Virginia. He graduated from the William and
Mary School of Law in 1997 and subsequently served as a judicial clerk for
the Supreme Court of Virginia. Brad is married to Lara Finch. Brad and
Lara have a son, Bradley, and a daughter, Mary.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office prosecutes criminal cases on behalf of the
citizens of Montgomery County. Our office does not handle civil cases such as divorces,
landlord/tenant disputes, estates, wills, real estate, etc.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office works with the Sheriff’s Office and the surrounding
police departments. We also work with the Women’s Resource Center, VASAP and New River Valley
Community Corrections, and Pretrial Services. The Victim-Witness Program
is currently situated in our office.
